Who we are

HumSafar is a matrimonial app that helps adults in Pakistan find a marriage partner. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not create an account.

Information we collect

  • Account and contact: your phone number (used to sign in), and optional WhatsApp number. Other members can open WhatsApp using the contact number on your profile.
  • Profile: name, date of birth, gender, city, education, profession, religion, sect, ethnicity, caste, photos, bio, partner preferences, and similar details you choose to share.
  • Identity verification: a selfie and photos of your CNIC, stored privately for human review and then deleted after the review is complete.
  • Reports: if you report or block someone, we store the reason so our team can act.
  • Device data: push-notification tokens so we can send verification and account alerts, and crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) so we can fix bugs.
  • Maps: we show city-based match locations on a map using Google Maps. We do not collect GPS or precise device location.

How we use information

  • To create and show your profile to other members, rank suggestions, and let you filter matches by city and preferences.
  • To let members contact each other on WhatsApp using the number on the profile.
  • To review identity documents and keep the community safer.
  • To send transactional notifications (for example, verification decisions).
  • To diagnose crashes and keep the service running.
  • We do not sell your data. We do not use advertising identifiers or track you across other apps.

Photos, camera, and on-device checks

The camera is used for a verification selfie, CNIC photos, and an optional profile photo. The photo library is used only when you choose photos for your profile album.

During selfie capture we use on-device face quality checks (Apple Vision) and the accelerometer to detect a steady phone. This is not Face ID, Touch ID, or biometric login, and face geometry is not sent to us for identification.

Who we share with

Other members see the public parts of your profile (name, city, photos subject to your blur setting, biodata) and can open WhatsApp using the phone or WhatsApp number on your profile.

Service providers that host the app: Supabase (database, auth, storage) and Google Firebase (Crashlytics and push messaging). Google Maps loads map tiles.

We may share information if required by law or to prevent harm.

Retention and deletion

We keep your account until you delete it. You can delete your account in the HumSafar app under Profile → Account → Delete Account. That removes your login, profile, photos, favourites, and related personal data we control.

Verification images are purged after review. Crash logs are kept only as long as needed to fix issues. Backups and legal holds may retain copies for a limited period.

Children

HumSafar is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we learn that someone under 18 created an account, we will delete it.
